TELECOMMUTING, A MODERN AND INNOVATIVE FORM OF WORK ORGANIZATION
Whereas telecommuting can take several forms, the form involving alternating home-work is appealing to an ever larger number of companies as shown by the increasing number of company agreements signed in recent years.
Working out of home one (or even 2 days) a week offers numerous advantages to businesses and employees alike:
· improvement in employee well-being and satisfaction
· enhanced employee responsibility
· reduction in home-office commuting
· improvement in the environmental footprint
· better balance between private-professional life
· increased productivity
Leading principles
The National Interprofessional Agreement signed in 2005 by all social partners sets a framework for telecommuting and facilitates its implementation by defining a certain number of leading principles to be complied with:
· telecommuting is on a volunteer basis,
· it is reversible,
· telecommuting is based on maintaining the link between the company and the employee.
